Edward Jones $20,000 Contest

What is the Edward Jones $20,000 Contest?
The Edward Jones $20,000 Contest is an exciting addition to the Free Throws for Kids (FTFK) event!  One eligible shooter will be chosen at each session for a chance to win. That person will have one chance to make a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half court shot. If you make all four shots within 30 seconds, you win $20,000!

When is it?
A contestant will be randomly drawn at the end of each FTFK session on May 9, 2020. Attendance is required. Names will be chosen at random until the first name of someone in attendance is drawn.

How do I participate? Who is Eligible?

  • You must be at least 14 years old (as of May 9, 2020). 

  • Every shooter that raises at least $250 will be automatically entered into the drawing. For every $250 raised, you earn an entry in the drawing, with a maximum of three entries per person. The donations listed on your individual fundraising page as of 35 minutes after your session begins on May 9, 2020 will be used to determine eligibility.

  • Current or former professional, semi-professional, college and Olympic basketball players or coaches are not eligible.

  • Members of the FTFK board are not eligible.

Progressive Shot Rules and Regulations
OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 

  1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. 

  2. Contestants will be randomly selected from names of eligible shooters at a drawing at Lakota West High School – West Chester, OH on 5/9/2020. 

  3. At each session, names will be chosen at random until the first name of someone in attendance at the session is chosen. The individual selected CANNOT choose another person to participate on his/her behalf. As a condition to attempting the progressive shot contest, the contestant will be required to sign the “Contestant Agreement to Participate” prior to the attempt. 

  4. Contest open only to individuals who are 14 years or older as of May 9, 2020. 

  5. To be eligible for the drawing, a shooter must have raised at least $250 for the 2020 Free Throws for Kids event. For every $250 raised, an individual will earn an entry in the drawing, with a maximum of three entries per person. The deadline for this amount is 35 minutes after each session begins on May 9, 2020. Only the donations listed on https://secure.e2rm.com/p2p/search/300107 will be used to determine eligibility. 

  6. The following classes of people are INELIGIBLE to participate:  

    • Current or former professional or semi-professional basketball players or coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world; current or former college or Olympic basketball players or coaches who have played or coached at that level anywhere in the world.  

    • Current Free Throws for Kids Board Members  

  7. Contestants shall not be permitted any practice, warm up, or qualifying shots, at any time after his/her notification of participation in the promotion until the actual prize shots. 

  8. Contestants must successfully shoot a regulation basketball (circumference of 29.5”) through a regulation size basketball hoop from various selected distances. The sequence and order of shots that the contestants shall attempt must be: Layup, Free Throw, Three Point Shot, and Half Court Shot. All shots must be made at the same basket. The contestants must shoot a layup by starting at the half court demarcation line which is forty one feet nine inches (41’9”) away from the center of the rim and dribbling or carrying the ball to underneath the basketball rim to make the shot, must shoot a free throw from a distance to the hoop no less than thirteen feet nine inches (13’9”) from the shot location to the center of the rim, must shoot a NCAA three point shot from twenty feet nine inches (20’9”) from the shot location to the center of the rim, and must shoot a half court shot from forty one feet nine inches (41’9”) from the shot location to the center of the rim. All distances are measured from the demarcation line to the center of the rim. The ball cannot bounce off the floor once the contestant releases the ball for their shot attempt. Each shot is subject to NCAA and/or NBA rules in order to be deemed valid. 

  9. Contestants shall have as many opportunities as necessary at each location to successfully make a shot, except for only one (l) attempt from the half court distance. Contestants may not proceed to the next location until a successful shot is made. If the contestant misses their first attempt at the layup then they can continue to shoot the layup from beneath the basket and do not need to start from the half court demarcation line on each successive layup attempt. Each contestant must retrieve his/her own rebounds. All shots of the sequence must be completed within 30 seconds. If successful, the contestant will be awarded $20,000. Each contestant will be solely responsible for any taxes. 

  10.  The rim of the target hoop will not be less than ten (10) feet above the floor. 

  11.  No part of the contestant’s body or clothing may come in contact with the demarcation line prior to releasing the ball. Any such contact shall be considered a foul and the shot shall have been deemed missed. 

  12.  Contestants will hold Free Throws for Kids, Edward Jones and Interactive Promotions Group harmless and release Free Throws for Kids, Edward Jones and Interactive Promotions Group from any and all liability for health related injuries of any kind resulting from this promotion. 

  13.  Contestants must not have previously won this promotion before. 

  14.  Contestants agree to allow Free Throws for Kids and Interactive Promotions Group to use their name and likeness for any and all promotional purposes without compensation.
